EZbudget Privacy Policy

EZbudget is a personal budgeting, accounting, and purchase-alert service operated by STEL Group LLC ("we," "us," "our"), located at 336 E University Pkwy #1113, Orem, UT 84058. This policy explains what information we collect when you use the EZbudget website, web app, and future mobile apps (the "Service"), how we use and share it, and the choices you have.

The short version

  • We collect your financial data only to run EZbudget for you.
  • We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your financial data for third-party advertising.
  • You can export or delete your data at any time.

1. Information we collect

Information you give us

  • Account details: name, email address, password (stored by our authentication provider, never by us in readable form), phone number if you enroll it for multi-factor authentication, time zone, and preferences.
  • Content you add: manual accounts, transactions, notes, categories, budgets, alert rules, and CSV files you import.
  • Support messages and survey responses.
  • Waitlist sign-ups: email address and your marketing-consent choice.

Information from financial institutions (with your permission) When you connect a bank, card, or other account, we receive the following through our data-connection providers (see Section 4):

  • Account name, type, and the last four digits of the account number
  • Balances
  • Transaction history and new transactions: amount, date, merchant, category, pending/posted status
  • Institution name

We do not receive or store your bank login credentials. We do not store full account or routing numbers.

Payment information. Subscription payments are processed by Stripe. We receive limited billing details (card brand, last four digits, expiration, billing country/ZIP, subscription status) but never your full card number.

Information collected automatically

  • Device and log data: IP address, browser type, operating system, pages viewed, timestamps, referring URL
  • Security events: sign-ins, multi-factor authentication challenges, account changes
  • Cookies and similar technologies, as described in our Cookie Policy

2. How we use information

  • To provide the Service: sync and categorize transactions, show balances, budgets, and reports, and send the purchase alerts you configure.
  • To secure the Service: authenticate you, enforce multi-factor authentication, detect fraud and abuse, and keep audit logs.
  • To process subscriptions and send receipts and account notices.
  • To provide support and respond to requests.
  • To improve the Service using aggregated or de-identified usage data.
  • To send product updates or marketing emails, only if you opt in. See our Communications and Email Consent Policy.
  • To comply with law and enforce our Terms of Service.

We do not use your financial data to make credit, lending, or insurance decisions, and we do not sell it.

3. How we share information

We share personal information only as follows:

  • Service providers (processors) that help us run the Service under contracts that limit their use of your data:
    • bank-data connection: Plaid, and Stripe Financial Connections where used
    • payments: Stripe
    • authentication: Google Firebase / Identity Platform
    • email delivery: a third-party transactional email provider
    • cloud hosting: Linode (Akamai)
  • At your direction, for example when you export your data.
  • Legal and safety: to comply with law or valid legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of users, the public, or us.
  • Business transfers: in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, subject to this policy or one at least as protective, with notice to you.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not "share" it for cross-context behavioral advertising (as those terms are defined under California law).

4. Bank connections: Plaid and Stripe

Plaid. EZbudget uses Plaid Inc. ("Plaid") to connect to your financial institutions and retrieve your account data. When you connect an account through Plaid, you authorize EZbudget and Plaid to access and transmit your personal and financial information from that institution on your behalf. You agree that your information will be transferred, stored, and processed by Plaid in accordance with the Plaid End User Privacy Policy, available at https://plaid.com/legal/#end-user-privacy-policy. You can review and revoke Plaid's access to your accounts at any time through Plaid's portal at https://my.plaid.com, or by disconnecting the account in EZbudget.

Stripe Financial Connections. For some institutions, we may instead use Stripe Financial Connections, operated by Stripe, Inc. Stripe's handling of your data is described in the Stripe Privacy Policy (https://stripe.com/privacy) and its Financial Connections end-user terms, which are presented when you connect.

Disconnecting. When you disconnect an account or delete EZbudget, we instruct the provider to end access, and we stop receiving new data from that institution.

5. Data retention

We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above. Summary:

  • account and financial data: kept while your account is active, then deleted within 30 days of account deletion
  • backups: expire within 35 days
  • billing records: kept for the period the law requires (generally up to 7 years)

6. Security

We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your information, including:

  • encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest
  • encryption of bank-connection tokens using a managed key service
  • multi-factor authentication for users and staff
  • least-privilege access controls
  • logging and monitoring
  • vendor security reviews

No system is perfectly secure. If a security incident affects your information, we will notify you and regulators as required by law.

7. Your choices and rights

  • Access and export: download your data from Settings, or email support@setitsolutions.com.
  • Correction: edit your information in the app or contact us.
  • Deletion: delete your account in Settings, or email support@setitsolutions.com.
  • Disconnect institutions: at any time, in the app or at https://my.plaid.com.
  • Email: unsubscribe from marketing using the link in any marketing email. You can adjust purchase alerts in Settings.
  • Cookies: see the Cookie Policy. We honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals.

State privacy rights. Residents of California and other states with consumer privacy laws may have additional rights, described in our State Privacy Notice. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

8. Financial privacy (GLBA)

To the extent STEL Group LLC is a "financial institution" under the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act:

  • We collect nonpublic personal information as described above.
  • We do not disclose it to nonaffiliated third parties except as permitted by law, for example to service providers that help us operate the Service.
  • We do not share it with nonaffiliated third parties for their own marketing.

9. Children

The Service is not directed to children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact support@setitsolutions.com and we will delete it.

10. Location

EZbudget is intended for users in the United States. We store and process information in the United States.

11. Changes

We may update this policy. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or in the app before they take effect, and we will update the effective date above.
